Empowering patients in Lincolnshire to get involved and make a difference to their local health services

Members of the public are invited to the first Lincolnshire patient, carer and public networking event to inform and inspire patients to become more involved with their health services.
Organised by the East Midlands Academic Health Science Network (EMAHSN) in conjunction with Lincolnshire NHS organisations,

A former Vice President of AstraZeneca has been appointed to a key national health role - less than a year after joining the NHS.
Professor Mike Hannay is to take up the position of Vice Chair of the national AHSN Network, a collaborative of England’s 15 Academic Health Science Networks (AHSNs).
Mike’s new role will operate alongside his current position as Managing Director of the East Midlands AHSN, a post he took up in July 2016.

AHSNs are co-developing novel technologies for primary care as part of its SBRI Healthcare programme. Innovations that could revolutionise GP Services have been funded to address the challenges of an ageing population.
Recognising the current pressures in primary care and need to advance the future of general practice, 22 companies share in a £2.1 million investment to develop and commercialise novel technologies with the potential to revolutionise GP services. This competition was led by South West AHSN, Eastern AHSN and West of England AHSN.

‘Next Steps on the NHS Five Year Forward View’ reinforces role of Academic Health Science Networks to drive innovation

NHS England has today (31 March 2017) published ‘Next Steps on the NHS Five Year Forward View’ which sets out how the NHS will deliver practical improvements in areas prized by patients and the public – cancer, mental health and GP access – while transforming the way that care is delivered to ease pressure on hospitals by helping frail and older people live healthier, more independent lives.
Academic Health Science Networks (AHSNs) will play a key role in supporting delivery of the Five Year Forward View (FYFV) during 2018/19, which is also when AHSNs will start a new licence period.
