National award recognition for East Midlands diabetes technology project

The use of innovative technology and 3D cameras to support treatment of foot ulcers in community settings has received national recognition at the 2018 Health Service Journal (HSJ) Partnership Awards.
Entec Health Ltd, the UK distributor for ARANZ Medical’s Silhouette® system, was named runner up in the Best Innovation in Medical Technology category at the HSJ Partnership Awards in London last night.

Preventing strokes, saving lives: Working with East Midlands’ GPs to detect Atrial Fibrillation

It is estimated that around 450 strokes and 150 deaths could be avoided every year across the East Midlands thanks to a programme to test more patients for Atrial Fibrillation (AF).
The initiative to identify and treat AF – a leading cause of strokes - is being led by the East Midlands Academic Health Science Network (EMAHSN), in partnership with the East Midlands Clinical Network and Clinical Commissioning Groups (CCGs).

East Midlands care homes honoured for improving safety and quality of care at first LPZ Awards

Staff and managers from care homes across the East Midlands came together in January to celebrate success in improving the quality and safety of care. An event held at Trent Vineyard in Nottingham on Thursday 18 January saw the presentation of six awards, highlighting the achievement of individuals and care homes across the region.
The awards were based on the results of care homes using the LPZ audit tool over the last year to improve the monitoring and recording of quality indicators for their residents.
