Now recruiting in Derbyshire and Northamptonshire – East Midlands PPI Senate - 27 February 2018
Now recruiting in Derbyshire and Northamptonshire – East Midlands PPI Senate - 27 February 2018
Details
Published: 27 February 2018
Expressions of interest are welcomed for membership of the East Midlands Patient and Public Involvement Senate.
Senate membership provides an exciting opportunity for patients, carers and the public with sound knowledge of Patient and Public Involvement (PPI) and strategic PPI experience to help influence, shape and drive excellent PPI across the East Midlands.
The Senate is an experienced and influential independent body that aims to collaborate with and support Hospital Trusts, Clinical Commissioning Groups and other health organisations in:
• Providing a region-wide perspective on PPI, identifying and spreading best practice and innovative approaches to involvement, participation and co-production
• Offering independent expert advice and constructive challenge to strategic programmes of work
• Acting as a sounding board and critical friend to new or existing initiatives and innovations
The East Midlands PPI Senate strives to position the region as a UK centre of excellence for patients, carers and public involvement and leadership whilst not seeking to replace, subordinate or duplicate existing involvement projects and activities at local level.
Senate members meet for up to four hours at least six times a year at locations across the East Midlands. Applicants must have voluntary time to give to the work of the Senate, including being able to undertake activities beyond attendance at Senate meetings. Senate members are offered a participation fee per meeting plus receipted expenses.
Applicants should have an established track record of participation and/or leadership of PPI activities and where possible experience of PPI at a strategic level within an organisation.
An ability to connect with, interpret and scrutinise national and local PPI health and social care policy is required alongside a commitment to equality and diversity.
To ensure the PPI Senate membership reflects diversity and communities across East Midlands, applications and expressions of interest are particularly encouraged those living in Derby/shire and Northampton/shire as well as people from LGBT+, long-term conditions, disabilities and BAME backgrounds.
For more information on the role of the East Midlands PPI Senate visit www.healthinnovation-em.org.uk/public-involvement/PPI-Senate
