SBRI Healthcare, an NHS England investment fund, on Monday (26 September) announced the opening of its autumn competition. Entrepreneurs are invited to apply for up to £1.1 million investment to develop and commercialise innovations with a focus on building general practice of the future.

New suicide prevention services launching for Nottingham and Nottinghamshire residents

Tomorrow Project
, a Nottingham based award winning suicide prevention service will be launching two new services to reduce the risk of suicide today.
The Tomorrow Project was established in South Nottinghamshire in 2012 after a number of deaths to suicide in a local community. By galvanising local support, bereaved families and professionals, The Tomorrow Project was established to deliver services and support to reach people in distress and reduce suicide.

New Atlas of Solutions in Healthcare aims to help speed up adoption of innovation

The country’s 15 Academic Health Science Networks (AHSNs) have come together to deliver the AHSN Atlas of Solutions in Healthcare: an online tool that shares proven innovations that are making a positive difference both to people’s lives and NHS efficiency. It is available at

Launching today at the Health and Care Innovation Expo, the Atlas of Solutions provides a snapshot of some of the country’s best healthcare innovations, describing the problems they were introduced to address and the impressive outcomes to date. The aim is to freely share these examples to speed and scale up the adoption of innovation across health and care.

2016 Impact Report
The AHSN Network demonstrates the impact that AHSNs have made collectively to address gaps in health and wellbeing; care and quality; and finance and efficiency as outlined in the Five Year Forward View.
The 15 AHSNs in England have a clear remit to connect NHS and academic organisations, local authorities, third sector and industry to help create the right conditions to improve health and generate economic growth. They achieve this by, for example, creating partnerships that enable a faster and greater spread of innovation and by fostering opportunities for industry to work effectively with the NHS.
