For healthcare transformation and innovation to be successful it has to be underpinned by a genuine commitment to engagement, involvement and co-production with patients and the public. Hosted by Health Innovation East Midlands, the PPI Senate works to spread best practice through its members’ networks – extending its reach throughout the East Midlands health and care community.
The Senate membership comprises patients and carers with strategic experience in patient involvement and the co-production of health and care services. They provide lived experience insights and expert advice advice to Health Innovation East Midlands programmes of work ensuring that patient involvement and co-production are at the organisation’s heart.
The PPI Senate also supports the wider East Midlands health and care system; providing advice, guidance and a wide range of resources such as ‘top tips’ guides, masterclasses and events. These have covered effective patient co-production as part of service transformation, developing patient leaders and how to build engagement with under-served and under-represented communities.
