Feedback following the event was extremely positive, with delegates appreciating the opportunity to share learning and to hear about hands-on experience of digital solutions.
Digitising outpatients will play a significant part in the transformation of outpatients required to achieve the commitment stated in the NHS Long Term Plan; to enable avoidance of up to a third of face to face outpatient visits, removing the need for 30 million outpatient visits a year.
There are multiple opportunities to introduce digital solutions that will contribute to the essential redesign.
This event showcased examples of successful digital solutions adopted by NHS organisations.
One such example is the EMAHSN collaboration with Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust (NUH) to deliver an Intelligent Digital Outpatients Solution Demonstrator aimed at appropriately reducing the number of outpatient attendances.
The Demonstrator will introduce two-way communication between patients and clinicians that will determine whether it is necessary to be seen in an outpatient clinic.
Other examples of digital innovations being adopted across the health systems will be shared and there will be the opportunity for networking with colleagues addressing common challenges as well as the companies they are working with.
