Health Innovation East Midlands (HIEM) is supporting the deployment of the SISU Health machine across Nottingham and Nottinghamshire, helping to bring convenient health checks into accessible community locations.

As part of Know Your Numbers Week (7–13 September), an awareness week aiming to encourage people to get their blood pressure checked, local residents were able to access quick and convenient health checks at an event held at Bramcote Leisure Centre in Nottingham, using the SiSU Health Station.

Representatives from Your Health Notts, Broxtowe Borough Council, Nottingham West Primary Care Network (PCN) and LLeisure were at the event, providing residents with information, advice and guidance on improving their health and wellbeing.

Around 15-20 people benefited from a SISU Health check on the day. Feedback from attendees was overwhelmingly positive, with many highlighting how valuable, quick and easy the service was to use. The event also provided an opportunity to engage with local residents, promote healthier lifestyles and strengthen partnerships across the borough.

The technology is s free, self-service machine that enables people to complete a health check in under five minutes. They measure a range of health indicators, including blood pressure, BMI, heart rate and body composition, helping people identify potential health risks at an early stage.

Users receive instant, personalised feedback, which may include advice to contact their local pharmacy or GP for a follow-up check. With their consent, the station can also connect people directly with local stop smoking and adult weight management services.

HIEM is supporting the deployment of SISU Health Stations in strategic, accessible locations across Nottingham and Nottinghamshire, including Boots at Victoria Centre, Stapleford Health Centre and now Bramcote Leisure Centre. By bringing health checks into community settings, the programme aims to improve cardiovascular health outcomes and help reduce health inequalities.
