The East Midlands Academic Health Science Network invites you to enter the Mental Health Safety Improvement Programme Learning Event Awards.

You can enter your best work, or nominate an individual or team. We’re looking for entries from those who are leading and making a difference in mental health. We aim to use the awards to shine a light on the projects, teams, and organisations that are working tirelessly on elevating the standards of health and care. We have five award categories, these are listed below. The deadline for award entries is Wednesday 18th May 2022, 12:00 noon.

INNOVATIVE MENTAL HEALTH INTERVENTION

We want to hear about the development and implementation of an innovation/change idea that has led to an improvement in patient safety. 

Your submission should be able to demonstrate some of the following: 

• What was the problem/system challenge
• Your approach/strategy to develop and deliver the innovation/change idea
• The impact to date 
• The potential long-term impact of the innovation/change idea
• Description and evidence of how patients were involved 
• Strategy to spread the innovation 

INNOVATIVE WELLBEING ACTIVITY

We want to hear about the development and implementation of an innovation/change idea that has led to an improvement in wellbeing. 

Your submission should be able to demonstrate some of the following: 

• What was the problem/system challenge 
• Your approach/strategy to develop and deliver the innovation/change idea
• The impact to date
• The potential long-term impact of the innovation/change idea
• Description and evidence of how patients were involved 
• Strategy to spread the innovation 

CULTURE FOR INNOVATION 

We are looking for a team or organisation that has developed a sustainable approach to innovation through the development of a positive workplace culture. 

Your submission should be able to demonstrate some of the following: 

• How your team or organisation’s values drive a culture of innovation
• How people in your team or organisation are supported to take forward a good idea for an innovative way of working or doing things
• How organisational strategy supports people to innovate 
• How you reward and incentivise innovation
• Examples of an innovation that has been developed due to the changes in culture 

CO-PRODUCTION AWARD FOR ENCOURAGING OUTSTANDING PATIENT AND PUBLIC CONTRIBUTION

This award is aimed at an individual or group who can demonstrate excellence in the way they encouraged the participation of patients, service users or carers in their projects/change ideas. We are looking for projects that put service users and carers at the heart of the change and innovation. You will need to demonstrate the practicalities of how PPI has been embedded in different stages of the project. 

Things to consider: 

• What steps were put in place to ensure patient/public involvement from the outset? 
• How were public representatives engaged and recruited?
• How are public representatives kept abreast with technical knowledge and understanding of complex requirements?
• What value have the public members brought to the project/research team generally and how have they helped enhance the project? 

TACKLING HEALTH INEQUALITIES AWARD

We want to hear about achievements in understanding and assessing the well-being of people across the region; and innovative ways of working to address inequalities.  

Nominees may have performed or are conducting change ideas that raise awareness of a key issue of concern, or which contribute towards a reduction in health inequalities. Or they may have developed a novel approach, for instance involving local communities alongside public sector organisations in addressing local needs.   

Your submission should be able to demonstrate some of the following: 

• Context for the nomination – why the project was initiated
• Describe the project/change idea and steps taken Involvement of local communities
• Impact of the project to date
