A survey of care homes in the East Midlands has given valuable insight into how they support the care of residents in anticipation of and during times when they become unwell.

Managers of 105 care homes across the East Midlands area completed the survey and shared information specific to managing frailty and deterioration and care planning.

The survey was undertaken as part of the Managing Deterioration Safety Improvement Programme (ManDetSIP), which includes a significant focus on the safety of care home residents.

The purpose of the survey was to understand what approaches and tools are currently being used by care homes to support the management of deterioration. It also provided the opportunity to share aspects of care they were most proud of and identify areas for improvement, where support may be able to be offered.
