East Midlands Innovation Exchange

The East and West Midlands AHSNs are working collaboratively to support NHS England and NHS Improvement Midlands in responding to the LeDeR (Learning Disability Mortality Review) report.

Alongside East and West Midlands ADASS (Association of Directors of Adult Social Services) these organisations hosted an Innovation Exchange event on 14 July 2021 for health and social care professionals, to look at different approaches to managing deterioration in people with a learning disability living at home.

Needs definition

The LeDeR reports highlights the poor health outcomes experienced by people with learning disabilities and the challenges they and their families and carers have in identifying signs of health deterioration early and preventing health problems. The Innovation Exchange event was part of a larger programme that aims to test existing innovations and solutions bespoke to people with learning disabilities in a bid to improve health outcomes and wellbeing as a whole. If successful, the ambition is for a national roll out in the next financial year.
