EPIFFANY (Effective Performance Insight for the Future) is an innovative approach to training healthcare professionals.
It was inspired by techniques developed by British sports teams, who became world-beaters by achieving big gains in performance through making lots of small improvements.
EPIFFANY was developed in response to evidence showing junior doctors can make double the prescribing errors of other health professionals; risking patient safety and leading to people staying in hospital longer than they need to.
Developed in the East Midlands by the University of Leicester with support from EMAHSN, Pfizer and Health Education England East Midlands, we are continuing to support the rollout of this project which is already in use nationally and internationally.
Proven to reduce error rates of junior doctors, it boosts confidence by using a safe and supporting learning environment that employs innovative use of digital simulation, personal feedback and peer support.
