From Algorithm to Impact: How AI and the Secure Data Environment Could Help Predict Pressure Ulcers

From 19 October 2026 11:00 until 19 October 2026 11:45

From Algorithm to Impact v4

Join Health Innovation East Midlands and the Eastern England Secure Data Environment (SDE) for the first in our new webinar series focusing on how the Eastern England SDE supports your research and innovation needs by providing secure access to de-identified NHS patient data for analysis.

The webinar will share insights from a pioneering Imperial College London research project using de-identified patient data from our region’s Secure Data Environment. The team is validating a machine learning model designed to predict hospital-acquired pressure ulcers, helping identify patients at greatest risk and supporting future clinical implementation.

We will explore the journey from research to real-world application, examining how the algorithm is being externally validated using patient data within the SDE and why validation is a critical step before AI tools can be adopted in clinical settings.

We'll also discuss the role of secure data environments in streamlining the administrative burden for research to take place while protecting patient privacy.

Who is session for?

The webinar will be particularly relevant for researchers, innovators and healthcare professionals wishing to access de-identified NHS data for research purposes.
