Access our support and expertise:
We’re pleased to launch our 2019 East Midlands Digital Health Accelerator and introduce our new cohort of innovators.
The East Midlands Digital Health Accelerator is a support programme for a small number of Digital Health innovators who we believe have an exciting and worthwhile innovation that can make a real difference to our health and care system.
All companies on the accelerator have been through a competitive selection process, including initial shortlisting of a wide range of applications followed by a panel made up of EMAHSN and external experts including Patient, Public Involvement representatives and NHS stakeholders.
Following this process, we have selected three companies for the Digital Health Accelerator programme and will also continue to work with our 2018 cohort as alumni. These companies will receive support from EMAHSN experts to further the spread and adoption of their innovations.
MyCognition
The MyCognition PRO app enables people to correct and improve their cognitive functioning, strengthen their mental resilience and increase their productivity. This helps healthcare organisations better manage patients in community care and their own homes.
It is approved by worldwide leading assessors of health apps, NHS Digital and ORCHA, for use in clinical care settings to measure and improve cognitive functioning.
“We are delighted to be part of the East Midlands AHSN DHA helping us spread MyCognition even further, so that healthcare professionals can better care for the cognitive health of their patients“
Michael Morgan-Curran, Commercial and Clinical Development

Woundworks
WoundWorks InSight enables accurate, consistent wound assessments and supports clinical decision making across all wound areas. Users can obtain 2D/3D wound measurements and tissue classification in seconds at the point of care, without touching the wound.
As data storage is cloud-based, information can be viewed by logging in from any internet-enabled device. This facilitates telehealth, virtual MDT meetings, a movement of routine wound assessment from acute to community and rapid escalation/de-escalation of patients as necessary.
“We are thrilled that Woundworks has been recognised as a digital health innovation by the East Midlands Digital Health Accelerator Programme. The opportunity presented by the programme will significantly help us in our goal in navigating the digital landscape within the NHS and gain valuable expertise and support to scale our business”.
Kok van der Meij, CEO

Qardio
Qardio’s QardioArm BP offers in clinic, home blood pressure remote monitoring and 24 hour ambulatory recordings in an easy to use device. The device helps patients monitor their blood pressure easily and links to an app so patients can easily see and interpret their results. When used by or shared with clinicians, the results can help to address misdiagnosed and undiagnosed hypertension.
“We’re looking forward to working with the EMAHSN on the Digital Health Accelerator to launch our 3 in 1 Hypertension Management Solution, which aims to help clinicians address misdiagnosed and undiagnosed hypertension. We see the value of maximising the spread of the product which is in line with the objectives outlined in the NHS long term plan”.

Spirit Digital
Spirit’s platform CliniTouch Vie provides remote clinical monitoring of medical conditions by healthcare professionals to help people who have had multiple admissions to stay out of hospital. Patients with a long-term condition such as COPD are able to submit answers to condition-specific questions and submit their vital sign readings. Clinicians are notified based on a risk score and by doing this CliniTouch Vie supports healthcare teams to actively monitor a patient’s condition, enabling a prioritised focus on those who need support.
“Being part of the Digital Health Accelerator programme last year provided us with access to a wide network of contacts, and as an alumni this year, we’re looking forward to extending that network and supporting others by sharing our experience.”
Nadine Miles, Director of Market Development
