We are working with Eastern Academic Health Science Network to deliver an Innovation Exchange focused on Estates and Facilities. The event will be held on Thursday 3 October 2019 in Peterborough.

The event will showcase innovations that will both inspire and practically help shape the future of NHS estates and facilities across the East Midlands and Eastern regions in order to enable the delivery of excellent care.

The scope encompasses everything related to the places where care is delivered, from the buildings themselves to the systems that keep them running, such as heating and lighting.

If you’re from an NHS organisation

Colleagues from NHS organisations across the East Midlands and Eastern regions are invited to attend, you can book your place here*.

*Only NHS staff are able to book their place on the event. Innovators with potential solutions must submit their idea for consideration and will receive an invite if their submission has been successful.

If you’re an innovator submit your idea

We are seeking innovations that respond to the following challenge statements that have been developed in partnership with colleagues from across the health system:

Challenge statements

  • How might we improve estates utilisation across a health and care system through use of innovations?
  • How can we manage room/facility/equipment booking across estates (possibly including non-NHS premises and link booking to clinical rostering)?
  • How can we understand the utilisation of space across multiple estates (possibly including non-NHS premises)?
  • How can we better use non-hospital estate given that most of the care is not delivered in hospital premises?
  • How might we reduce energy and wide utility costs in our health and care estates using clean tech?
  • How might we support better day-to-day operations and maintenance of health and care premises?
  • How can we ensure appropriate infection control (relevant to the use of the estate in question)?
  • How can we monitor and maintain equipment across a portfolio of estates? (For example, temperature monitoring and automated alerts to failing refrigeration equipment)
  • How can we assist people with complex needs to navigate their way around our premises (wayfinding)?

Innovators can submit their idea for consideration here.
