We are seeking an inspirational new Managing Director to lead our work to transform the health of the region’s 4.7m residents.

The search has been launched following the announcement that Mike Hannay, current Managing Director of the East Midlands Academic Health Science Network (EMAHSN), is leaving the organisation to head up the new £23m Medical Technologies Innovation Facility (MTIF) based at Nottingham Trent University and the Boots Enterprise Zone.

EMAHSN is one of 15 AHSNs across England who work together and locally to ignite innovation in healthcare by bringing together the NHS, universities, industry, third sector, public health and social care to transform the healthcare and stimulate economic growth. Three of EMAHSN’s key aims are to get technologies to more patients faster, save the NHS money and generate economic growth in the region.

Mike joined the EMAHSN in 2016 from ThermoFisher Scientific, where he had worked since 2013 as Vice President for the UK BioPharma Services Division. That role built upon his significant experience both nationally and internationally, including Vice President of Medicines Development at AstraZeneca. During his time as Managing Director at EMAHSN, Mike has also held positions for the national AHSN Network, including Network Chair and is currently AHSN Network Lead for Economic Growth.

Mike’s successor will have significant experience as a senior leader of a complex, professionally-based organisation in health and social care, academic or industry sector with knowledge and understanding of the particular challenges of the East Midlands. They will have the ability to influence, gain and retain the trust and confidence of internal and external partners working in health and care service delivery, industry, education and research.
