There is an increasing call for patients, carers and public contributors to be involved on boards and governance committees - reviewing and scrutinising NHS safety and improvement data. However, there is very little training, support, and development for patient leaders in patient safety and improvement.
The East Midlands Academic Health Science Network Patient Safety Collaborative (EMPSC) is offering a FREE training programme with the first cohort starting on 30 October 2018 for Northamptonshire, with further cohorts available for leaders across the region in 2019.
Patient, carer and public members involved, or aspiring to be involved in the NHS patient safety service and quality agenda such as CCG Boards Lay Members, Patient and Public representatives on Quality and Safety Committees/Forums, members of Health and Social Care Overview and Scrutiny Committees, Healthwatch members etc.
The aim of the programme is to improve leadership, knowledge, skills, and confidence for patient leaders to effectively contribute and influence decisions about patient safety, healthcare improvement, and quality.
Health and care organisations will need to nominate suitable patients, carers and public members in their areas they feel will benefit from attending this programme.please click here
