Today (7 January 2019) NHS England has published it Long Term Plan which aims to save almost half a million more lives focusing on investment in the latest technologies and cutting-edge treatment, with the aim of improving early detection and prevention stop an estimated 85,000 premature deaths every year.
The role of England’s 15 Academic Health Science Network has been highlighted within the Long Term Plan as having a crucial role in supporting the sustainability of health and care services plus helping to speed up the pipeline for developing innovation in the NHS, so that proven innovations reach patients faster.
