Three East Midlands health and care organisations have been supported by Health Innovation East Midlands (HIEM) to deploy innovative solutions that respond to NHS productivity challenges.

Productivity is a major challenge faced across the NHS, with a focus on reducing administrative burden to create more time for patient care.

In response to this, HIEM hosted a Productivity Innovation Exchange, showcasing 13 innovators with solutions designed to address this challenge. An associated enabling fund was launched to support the deployment of selected innovations within NHS and care organisations.

This enabling fund has supported three projects across the East Midlands, beginning in quarter 1 (April 2026). These deployments will focus on demonstrating patient benefit, return on investment, and building the evidence base and business case for sustained adoption.

The projects are:

• Brain Stimulation to assess patients on the stroke pathway – the Rehatt Distro solution will be deployed by Nottingham University Hospitals and Nottinghamshire Healthcare Foundation Trust.
• Ambient Voice Technology will be used across acute paediatric outpatient clinics and the paediatric Emergency Department – the Lyrebird Health solution will be deployed by Nottingham Children’s Hospital.
• AI driven real time fracture detection solution -  the RBFracture radiobotics solution will be deployed by University Hospitals of Northamptonshire to enhance the safety, quality and efficiency of imaging pathways in their Emergency Departments.
