Health Innovation East Midlands and Health Innovation West Midlands jointly hosted an event this month to bring together NHS colleagues from across the Midlands who are actively testing and implementing Martha’s Rule.

The day focused on sharing insights, learning from each other, highlighting great practice across the region, and working together to drive meaningful improvement.

Teams from across the Midlands shared their work to introduce Martha’s Rule into different settings – including paediatric services – and across multiple sites ensuring every patient and family has clear, accessible pathways to escalate concerns.

 Afternoon workshops gave delegates the opportunity to reflect on and generate ideas for future development of the programme around the themes of: Embedding Martha’s Rule with patient and public involvement to reduce inequalities and improve accessibility and understanding of the initiative; How to continue to move Martha’s Rule from pilots to business as usual and How best to ensure the calls received relate to deterioration.
