Health Innovation East Midlands will host a virtual innovation showcase, focusing on solutions to reduce NHS waiting lists. Reducing waiting lists and addressing related challenges is a top priority and crucial challenge for the NHS.

HIEM has been working with system partners to identify opportunities where digital and MedTech solutions can help. The event will showcase innovations targeting one or all of the following areas:

  • Referrals – specifically, digital solutions that support referrers to ensure the patient is ready for their referral and is in the best possible position before their procedure. For example, things such as, is their hypertension under control? Is their diabetes well managed? Have all the necessary diagnostics been carried out?
  • Triage – digital solutions that enable acute trust teams to quickly and efficiently determine when patients need to be seen, by who and in what location. This could include artificial intelligence support to summarise complex and lengthy referral documentation to support clinical decision making.
  • Waiting well – digital or MedTech solutions that enable patients to remain as well as they can while waiting for planned interventions or procedures. This could include eating well, exercising and preparing for their procedure – physically, mentally and emotionally.

Submissions will also need to consider looking for solutions that relate to physical and mental health. All innovators must be clear about how their solution addresses health inequalities and any impact on Net Zero.

If you feel you have an innovation that can respond to these challenges complete our application form.

Register your place here if you are from a health and care organisation based in the East Midlands.
