The “Caring Together: Improving Safety Through Experiences” mental health event earlier this month brought together mental health clinical professionals, lived experience contributors and members of the public to collaborate and learn from each other. The Learning Event was centred around Preventing suicide and Self-Harm, improving sexual safety and reducing restrictive practice.

The event included keynote presentations, workshops, exhibitors and an opportunity to display examples of improvement work undertaken by the services.IMG 4275

Hannah Jackson-Cox, Senior Improvement Lead- Mental Health Programme, Health Innovation East Midlands said: “The event was a great opportunity for people to come together to share good practice from mental health services across the region and provide delegates with the opportunity to build on their knowledge and skills and take new ideas back to their organisations.

“In the workshops attendees had the opportunity to discuss and take away with them different approaches to holding compassionate conversations and using the right language when interacting with someone in crisis, the power of debriefs and how impactful they can be, and supporting psychological safety.

“Feedback from the event was very positive and we will be planning another event for 2025 – look out for more details.”
