A new series of free webinars is being launched which will highlight and share East Midlands Academic Health Science Network’s knowledge of the adoption and spread of innovation within the health and care landscape.

The Innovation Insights series will feature a wide range of content from key experts across our organisation, including topics highlighting:

• the fundamentals of innovation within the wider health and care system
• understanding the commercial and industry landscape
• equality, diversity and inclusion
• analytics and data evaluation
• patient and public involvement
• supporting transformation.

Taking place on a monthly basis, these 45 minute webinars will include an initial presentation followed by the opportunity for attendees to share any questions that they have for speakers as part of an interactive Q&A session. Each webinar will close with a series of key take home messages and calls to action to help attendees take forward what they have learned into their organisations.

Involving People with Lived Experience to Transform Mental Health Services – 13 September 2023

The first webinar in the series will focus on involving people with lived experience to transform mental health services, and will provide practical guidance on co-production and supporting and valuing their contributions. Featuring learning from real life examples, this session will be led by EMAHSN Head of Improvement Programme Delivery, Kay Khan, EMAHSN Patient Public Involvement and Engagement Officer, Deborah Wilson and Expert by Experience, Sue Wheatcroft.

Race Disparity – Inclusive Innovations in Health – 11 October 2023

To celebrate Black History Month, this webinar will explore inclusive innovations and highlight key health inequality challenges across the system.

Dr Habib Naqvi, Chief Executive of the NHS Race and Health Observatory will set the context for this event, exploring the importance of addressing racial bias and community involvement when co-designing inclusive innovations. The webinar will also feature a sample of innovators who are enabling equitable healthcare for ethnic minority communities, along with some of the challenges when bringing their solutions into the NHS.

Innovation Implementation, Readiness and Resourcing – 26 October 2023

This session will present an easy to adapt framework for people working within health and care systems seeking to adopt and embed a service innovation or transformation. It is applicable to large and small-scale projects across multiple locations and will synthesise learning from “Focus ADHD”, a national programme implemented at pace and scale across England between April 2020 and March 2023 via the 15 AHSNs.
