Three projects that have all been supported by East Midlands Academic Health Science Network have been shortlisted for national Innovate Awards.

The Innovate Awards, now in their second year, are delivered in partnership between The AHSN Network and NHS Confederation to celebrate best practise examples of collaboration in the adoption and spread of innovation across health and care.

A grand total of 191 entries from health and care teams across the country, covering 11 award categories, has been shortlisted to 56 finalists.

Finalists supported by EMAHSN are: 

Innovation Spread Award: AHSN & Qbtech, Focus ADHD programme to improve ADHD diagnoses in children and young people. An objective computer based ADHD assessment tool that was the topic of a Real World Evaluation in 2017 in the East Midlands, was selected as a national AHSN programme and is now being used in 138 sites across England, benefiting 93,817 patients since April 2016.

Excellence in Patient and Public Involvement in Transformation and Innovation Award: EMAHSN worked with Northamptonshire Healthcare Foundation Trust as part of the Mental Health Safety Improvement Programme to recruit six representatives with lived experience to join three Communities of Practice to shape their work and improve patient experience.

Diversity in Innovation Award: The Essential Baby Co. in the Community CIC, The Bridge Project: Black Baby Loss Awareness Week. EMAHSN is working with the founder of the company to help platform her innovation at Network events, and co-producing resources to make essential antenatal care accessible and inclusive, along with advice and guidance for healthcare colleagues on how to engage with birthing women from black and Asian communities.
