April marks the 10 year anniversary of Academic Health Science Networks. To celebrate the occasion we are looking back at some of our highlights, and what lessons we have learnt when spreading and adopting health and care innovation.

Since 2018, the 15 AHSNs have come together to deliver 11 national AHSN adoption and spread programmes and supported the rapid uptake of 28 NICE approved products. These initiatives have benefited over 2 million patients and realised an estimated £164m in in-year savings to the health system. This is in addition to our local programmes and support for health and care systems.

The AHSN Network has also provided bespoke support to more than 7,000 innovations originating from industry which has contributed more than £1.3bn to UK PLC and led to the creation and securing of more than 5,400 jobs, as well as generating efficiencies and health benefits, nationally.

These are statistics that we are proud of and are excited to continue to build on.

We have come a long way since our launch 10 years ago with only five employees to the 55-strong team we are now.
