The East Midlands Care Home Awards once again celebrated a range of unique, hardworking, and compassionate staff from care homes across the East Midlands.

Hosted by East Midlands Patient Safety Collaborative (EMPSC), nominations for the awards were invited from residents, care home managers and staff, integrated care systems, local authorities, primary care networks and anyone who works with the care home sector such as district nurses and GPs.

Judges included health and care professionals in the region, members of the public and staff from the East Midlands Patient Safety Collaborative.

The awards were given at the Connecting Together learning and celebration event held on Thursday 2 March, our first in-person event for care home professionals in three years.

Awards were given for six categories, each with an overall winner and a highly commended:

Best for Wellbeing

Winner: Angela Rennie, Church Farm Care Home at Skylarks

Highly commended: Activities Team, Oaklands

Best Improvement Project

Winner: Rahim Walji, Dovecote Residential Care Home

Highly commended: Georgie Jowett and Jamie Lee Banner, Meadows Care Home

Support Team of the Year

Winner: Jon Handley – Church Farm Care Home at Skylarks

Highly commended: Tina Buckby, Toller Road

Carer of the Year

Winner: Jade Mitchell, Lancaster Grange Care Home

Highly commended: Stephanie Wilkinson, Sherwood House

Care Home Manager of the Year

Winner: Amanda Holmes and Tara Tyers, Clarendon Mews

Highly commended: Sophie Bradley-Aukland, Edenhurst Rest Home

Care Home of the Year

Winner: Beech House Care Home

Highly commended: Old School House (Learning Disabilities)
