Four exciting companies will receive specialist tailored support to help spread their digital health innovations within the NHS and care system through our East Midlands Digital Health Accelerator (EMDHA) programme. 

The Accelerator programme is designed to help companies with worthwhile digital health innovations that have the potential to have a positive impact on the system and the wider economy.

The 2023 EMDHA programme will have a specific focus on innovations that help to address a pressing issue for the health and care system which is supporting our workforce. 

We have engaged with system leaders across the region to understand their workforce challenges, priorities and where opportunities could emerge for innovative digital technologies to make an impact.

These leaders were part of the selection panel which determined which products best fit their needs and have the greatest potential for adoption.

The successful companies will receive a tailored package of expert guidance, advice and support, adapted to the need of their business. It has included one-to-one support and coaching, masterclasses and opportunities to showcase products to NHS decision-makers and influencers. 

The companies joining the Accelerator in 2023 are: 

Atrainability and Download Learning

Download applies the neuroscience of memory formation to learning, reducing learning times by between 75-96% whilst increasing knowledge acquisition and retention which, in turn, improves knowledge application. The objective is to reduce the training time burden whilst improving learning outcomes and resultant behaviours.

Compassly

Compassly is a simple but powerful app that lets clinical leaders easily assess the skills of their teams live on a smartphone or tablet, to help ensure that healthcare professionals have the right skills to care for their patients. It reduces time spent on paper assessments and gives evidence and assurance to clinical leaders. By supporting a consistently high standard of professional development, it helps with staff motivation and retention, reduces unwarranted variation and leads to improvements in patient safety and experience.

Fika

Fika is scientifically-proven team training software that can prevent mental wellbeing decline, reduce burnout and build team trust by inserting 5-minute micro-training into existing meetings and into existing career pathway transitions. It supports workforce health and wellbeing, retention and team inclusion.

Fika is fully accessible on desktop and mobile web allowing it to be used by office staff, and frontline staff on the move, in bite-sized moments throughout the working day. It appeals to and reaches all staff including the demographic groups that do not typically identify or engage with wellbeing solutions.

MyOpNotes

MyOpNotes is a digital platform that allows surgeons to write high-quality operation notes, enables hospitals to be better remunerated, and automatically captures data for research & audit.

Built in collaboration with surgeons, MyOpNotes replaces handwritten or simple word processed operation notes. It combines peer-reviewed procedure templates with smart technology to improve care, reduce litigation and save the NHS money.

Widely adopted, MyOpNotes could revolutionise surgical documentation, with ‘big data’ obtained in this manner reducing the need for clinical trials and providing further long-term benefits to patients.
