Six digital health innovation companies have been successful in their bids to receive tailored support from the East Midlands Digital Health Accelerator programme to develop their products further and improve patient care.

The companies’ propositions cover medicines supply, remote health management for vulnerable people, speech and language therapy, sperm analysis, operating theatre utilisation and using medical imagery for earlier detection of knee osteoarthritis and cardiac arrythmia.

Commercial Director Tim Robinson said: “The Accelerator programme supports companies with digital health innovations that have the potential to have a positive impact on the health and care system and the wider economy.

“We provide a tailored package of expert guidance, advice and support that is adapted to the need of the business and has included one-to-one support and coaching, masterclasses and opportunities to showcase products to NHS decision-makers and influencers.” 

The companies joining the Accelerator in 2022 include: 

iEthico - A digital platform to mitigate drug shortages that ensures optimal sourcing and distribution of existing supplies in a timely and logistically efficient way.

Islacare- A visual record that enables wide scale remote management, early escalation and rapid review of health conditions. Can be used by vulnerable people in a variety of settings.

Kids Speech Labs - Developing a secure platform to enable remote screening for children’s speech and language development, allowing providers of speech therapy remotely triage children and ensure appropriate interventions are delivered as early as possible.

Segmentum - Developing a software package for diagnostic andrology alongside an evidence-based quantitative sperm assessment process that can be trialled in real world testing.

TCC-CASEMIX - Using datasets to simulate how different factors might influence operating theatre capacity to identify latent capacity and channel demand appropriately in order to reduce waiting lists.

Volmo - Medical image processing software that uses AI to support the earlier detection of knee osteoarthritis and cardiac arrythmia.
