To support patients affected by the COVID-19 pandemic many NHS organisations are identifying ways they can deliver more care to people in the comfort of their own homes.

Seven regional Innovation Collaboratives across the country have been established and are working to implement the use of tech-enabled remote monitoring to support patients with COVID-19. These collaboratives are also working to scale existing projects that use technology, devices, or apps to support patients to monitor their health or long term condition.

Each innovation collaborative brings together multiple sectors including organisations such as the NHS, social care and local authorities in their area to contribute towards developing new services and solutions.

In the Midlands across Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland the pandemic has driven the expansion of remote monitoring schemes to allow clinical teams to monitor patients at home. The technology is helping patients to self monitor their condition and ensures clinical teams can intervene if their health deteriorates.

The remote monitoring platform selected is called CliniTouchVie designed by Spirit Healthcare an EMAHSN supported company. The data captured by CliniTouchVie allows health professionals to spot trends and identify early signs of deterioration before they need hospital admission.
