Nick brings a wealth of experience to the role. He has been an independent healthcare consultant for the last ten years advising NHS organisations on service redesign, risk management, governance and cost improvement. He has worked with many NHS organisations across the East Midlands.

Previously, Nick worked for the Audit Commission for 20 years, leading major reviews of assistive technology, community equipment services, medicines management and patient flow. He led a team that undertook a major overhaul of cancer screening services in Ireland.

Nick is a non-executive director at Barnsley Hospital NHS Foundation Trust where he is deputy chair and chair of the Audit Committee and Organ Donation Committee.

He is a former non-executive director with United Lincolnshire NHS Trust and Horizon NHS Trust, a specialist service for people with mental health problems or learning disabilities. He has also been a chair of governors at two schools.

As a member of the EMAHSN Board, he will support the development and implementation of our strategy, initially for two years. He will replace previous Independent Director Mike Wilkins, whose term of office ended in March 2021.

“I’m particularly keen to be able to support the introduction of proven successful projects to our local services and to understand what makes some organisations so successful in doing this, so we can help spread good practice.

“The continued growth in the use of digital technologies in redesigning services will be essential in helping the NHS respond to growing and changing demand following the Covid pandemic. With the new NHS White Paper also integrating health and social care for the benefit of service users, this is an exciting time to be joining the team.”
