The East Midlands and West Midlands AHSNs are working across the Midlands region to support an NHSX Innovation Collaborative – designed to accelerate the deployment of innovative remote monitoring technology and approaches, bringing better and more personalised care to patients.

Each of England’s 15 AHSNs are supporting programmes in their areas that have received funding from NHSX. The funding will enable teams to scale existing projects, which use technology to support patients to use devices or apps to help monitor and manage their health or long term conditions – to deliver better and more personalised care to more people in their own homes.

The Innovation Collaborative brings people together from organisations such as the NHS, social care and local authorities to share their learning, contributing towards developing new services and solutions. This includes the use of tech-enabled remote monitoring for supporting patients with COVID-19.

In the East Midlands, there are three exciting projects that received funding to scale their approaches to remotely monitor patients effectively at home – ranging from supporting COVID-19 patients on discharge from secondary care to enabling home care teams to more efficiently support patients living with multiple long-term conditions. Work is also underway in the West Midlands to support care home transformation and connectivity.

As part of the wider purpose of the Innovation Collaborative, AHSNs are involved to use our strong networks to facilitate connections and share project learnings on a regional and national basis. We will support the creation of communities of practice and sharing events across our Midlands region alongside our colleagues at the West Midlands AHSN.
