A new Atrial Fibrillation (AF) digital toolkit has been launched to support those working in AF stroke prevention across the NHS.
Each year, about 15,000 people in England, Wales and Northern Ireland are admitted to hospital for an AF related stroke. Since 2016, the AHSN Network has delivered a nationwide programme focused on identifying and addressing the barriers to stroke prevention in AF across the patient pathway. This toolkit has been produced as part of the programme and brings together methodologies and resources that can be used to help detect people with AF, improve rates of anticoagulation therapy (used to treat those with AF at risk of stroke), and the perfect treatment.
