England’s 15 Academic Health Science Networks have teamed up with NHS Confederation and the Health Foundation to share knowledge around the critical role of innovation in responding to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Forming part of the NHS Confederation’s NHS Reset campaign, the partnership will build on the expertise of the three organisations to explore what clinicians, leaders, innovators and patients believe should be retained, adapted, reinstated or stopped.
Rapid innovation and learning have been at the heart of the immediate response and can play a key role in supporting the health and care sector to transition and manage the aftermath of the pandemic.
EMAHSN Managing Director Nicole McGlennon said: ‘A wealth of innovations and new ways of working have arisen in response to the coronavirus outbreak. Health and care leaders, clinicians and partners from all sectors have worked in novel ways to develop and deliver services under unprecedented circumstances – and this has happened at a pace previously thought unimaginable.
‘The Reset campaign seeks to capture this learning so we can lock-in the benefits and build on the rapid progress made to accelerate the ongoing improvement of health and care planning and delivery.’
NHS Reset was launched in May 2020 to contribute to the public debate on what the health and care system should look like post COVID-19.
Pulling together members from across the NHS Confederation and wider partners in health and social care, it aims to recognise the sacrifices and achievements of the COVID-19 period, rebuild systems and help inform discussions around the way we plan, commission and deliver health and care.
