EMAHSN offers a range of programmes and initiatives to support commercial innovators and healthcare staff. This involves supporting them along their journey from having a great idea to successfully launching and spreading their healthcare solution. Through the expert support offered we bridge the gap between the NHS and industry for patient benefit.
As part of this, we have recently launched an Innovation Academy – a dedicated free programme designed for those who would like to gain an understanding of how the NHS takes on new products or services.
In this blog, Julian Patel, EMAHSN's Commercial Manager, covers the launch of the Academy and the wealth of EMAHSN support currently offered to health innovators.
So, as a bit of background for those that don’t know too much about our EMAHSN offer to health innovators. Over the past year, we’ve supported around 419 companies with 452 of their innovations providing bespoke support based on where they are on their innovator journey. As a team, we deliver various offers of support and opportunities to help companies and/or SMEs navigate, understand, and gain the skills required to grow their innovations but also potentially become embedded across the NHS.
Our expert support means we have an understanding of the NHS and its complexities and why some innovations may fail. We work with healthcare systems and innovators to help deliver solutions where there may be a great challenge in the healthcare system, where an innovation or service could have the potential to make a real difference. Our ultimate aim is to introduce solutions for patient benefit as well as deliver cost savings to the NHS.
For instance, if we look at the earlier stage of the innovator's journey, we run several programmes to help understand the complex and sometimes confusing world of getting a new product or solution into the NHS. An overview of all of our support offered is available on our webpage here.
Using our experience and from speaking to thousands of innovators over this time, we have come up with what we all believe is the best way to get as much useful and relevant information out to anyone who is truly invested in thriving in the NHS landscape and we, therefore, introduced the Innovation Academy.
The Innovation Academy … sounds quite grand doesn’t it?
This is a brand new programme recently launched based on our expertise and conversations with innovators. The Academy is completely free and is a one stop shop offering a series of modules on key areas that health innovators generally need help and guidance on, topics include:
Registering for the Academy means you’ll gain access to webinars on each crucial subject but will also be able to access live Q&A sessions with the presenters who are experts in their respective fields. You’ll also unlock access to useful resources on each topic.
The Academy is open to anyone who has an idea, an innovation or a solution that they believe can better patient care and or lead to cost savings within the NHS or the wider healthcare ecosystem.
We welcome attendees from sole traders, SMEs, corporates, clinicians, nurses, GPs, academics and anyone else who would like some guidance in the complex works of healthcare innovation.
As a new programme, the Innovation Academy will evolve, and our aim is for it to be an invaluable tool for anyone looking to develop a healthcare innovation or service.
