I was delighted to join the East Midlands AHSN in November 2019 as the new Managing Director and have been extremely impressed with the impacts that our programmes of work have had and continue to have on the local health and care system. The role of the AHSN Network is to drive the uptake of innovation and technology and develop safer systems of care nationally and in a way that is specific and useful for our regional partners. We have continued to offer support to our system in this way during the COVID-19 pandemic. Recent weeks and months have been the most challenging that our health and care system has ever seen. COVID-19 has put extreme pressure on the NHS and social care. It doesn’t need to be said how incredible NHS and care workers, along with other key workers, have been and continue to be during this time.

The AHSNs act as a support system for whatever the needs of our health and care system are at any time, so during the recent months I am pleased that the AHSN Network and our local AHSN in the East Midlands has been able to offer help and support when it was and is needed the most. We have very quickly responded to the pandemic. From March we realigned our resources to support the NHS Midlands. Find out more about our response here.
