Commercial and clinical innovator support

Since we were established in 2013, we have developed significant knowledge and expertise around how to spread transformative technologies, which we direct to support the adoption of innovations developed by health companies and clinical entrepreneurs.

We provide advice at different stages of their journey from having an idea to successfully launching and spreading their great ideas within our health and care systems.

Our ability to connect the NHS with health companies and clinical entrepreneurs not only transforms outcomes for patients and generates NHS efficiencies, it also supports economic growth.

Each year we attract millions of pounds of inward investment into our region by supporting innovators to access new markets, so they can grow their businesses and create or safeguard jobs.

During the year we launched our Innovation Academy in collaboration with Medilink. It provides free access for commercial and clinical innovators to a range of courses to equip them with the skills and knowledge needed to successfully spread their technologies within the NHS. Just four months after its launch, almost 300 people were signed up for the academy.

We also announced the latest cohort of digital health companies to join our East Midlands Digital Health Accelerator (EMDHA). Six new companies joined three alumni companies. The accelerator is a dedicated programme providing established digital companies with a tailored package of expert guidance, advice, coaching, masterclasses, and opportunities to showcase products to NHS decision makers and influencers.

In addition, we partnered with the We Are Pioneer Group to provide support via the East Midlands Accelerator Programme to 43 NHS clinical entrepreneurs and healthcare innovator start-ups. The programme provides intensive support to help them grow and scale their businesses.
